NodeAsset is an engine for tokenizing real-world assets on Canton: investment funds, deposits, stablecoins, commodities, and products backed by on-ledger collateral. The firm that runs it on its own premises is the venue, such as a bank, a securities firm or an asset manager. The venue takes each asset through its life on the ledger: set it up, sell it, settle every order in tokenized cash or by fiat transfer, and service it until it’s redeemed. Two ways to use it:
  • External issuers. The issuer, or the transfer agent it appoints, keeps the register and approves each change with its own keys.
  • Internal issuers. The venue keeps the register itself, as a bank or a licensed transfer agent can, with a separate desk, staff and keys.
